The Run Finally Ends

For a while the game had way more systems than it had shape. Bombs, curses, relics, a whole HQ skill tree, all built out, but a run itself didn't really go anywhere. You'd clear ten floors, fight a slightly reskinned enemy, and hit a victory screen that felt less like an ending and more like the game shrugging. This update is mostly about fixing that.

A Real Ending

Floor 10 is now a proper miniboss fight (the Mirror Bomber, the one that plays your own bomb rules against you), and the run keeps going afterward instead of stopping there. Floor 13 stacks two special floors on top of each other for the first time. And floor 15 is the actual finale now: the altar boss arena, a boss standing on a ring of 16 cells that all need to light up at once to bring it down. That fight used to sit behind a debug button in custom mode. Now it's what every standard run builds toward, and beating it gets you a real victory screen instead of a "BOSS DEFEATED!" label slapped on top of the main menu.

One Relic at a Time

Relics used to just pile up. Grab enough and you'd outpower the run without giving anything back. Now you hold a limited number of relic slots. You start with one, and you can buy more from the Artificer's tree or straight from the shop mid-run if you've got the coins. Relics only show up in the draft on even floors now, and they don't stack anymore. If you find one you want and your slots are full, you get a replace screen that shows exactly what you'd be trading away, including which curse rides along with the old relic and which one comes with the new one. Swapping actually lifts the old curse cleanly now too, instead of leaving some half-expired timer hanging around.

Six New Relics

And all 22 of them, old and new, finally have real pixel art instead of placeholder letters.

The new six: Magnet Core pulls coins, power-ups, and hammers in from a couple tiles away. Adrenaline gives you a burst of speed after every kill. Ghost Powder lets you walk through your own bombs. Time Thief adds two seconds to the floor timer per kill. Sea Legs means enemies can't kill you just by touching you (bombs and arrows still will, don't get cocky). Curse Eater banks a permanent point of blast range every time a curse runs out naturally instead of getting cleared early.

The Draft Gets a Rebuild

The old bonus lane was basically a two-horse race between Extra Bomb and Gunpowder, and everyone figured that out about five minutes in. There's a real pool behind it now. Coin Purse pays out before the shop even opens. Hammer Cache gives you a hammer. Long Arm is a temporary range boost that counts down like a curse, just working in your favor for once. Wooden Shield is an extra shield that breaks at the next floor clear but otherwise looks and plays exactly like a normal one. Head Start freezes every enemy for three seconds when the next floor starts. Skipping the draft isn't a shrug anymore either — it pays out 2 coins, so even a bad hand is a real decision. Short Fuse and Safe Fuse are gone from the draft for good. Fuse tinkering is getting saved for a proper workbench system down the line.

Small Fixes Worth Mentioning

The Siege curse used to only tick on Barracks floors, which meant it barely did anything most runs. It now spawns barracks on any standard floor like it was supposed to all along. The broken bomb slot picker in the pause menu is gone — your secondary bomb type just auto-assigns at the start of a run now. And the Artificer's skill tree stopped resetting your scroll position every time you buy something, so working down a long branch doesn't mean scrolling all the way back to the top each time.

More soon.
